Using Windows Power Options To Save Energy

Posted on June 24, 2010. Filed under: Easy Tricks using Windows, Uncategorized |

Save power on your computer by trying the following:

If you want to power down your computer when not in use you can click on Start>shut down> choose standby or sleep.

To awake from standy or sleep you just need to press any key on the keyboard.

However, if a power loss occurs during standby or sleep  you will lose any unsaved data.

To prevent this you can hold down the shift key while clicking standby or sleep- this will save any information currently in memory before putting it in the low power mode.

This  is called Hibernation. You resume the same way, but it will take a little extra time.

To control how your computer saves power right click on the middle of the desktop and choose Properties or Personalize then click on Screen Saver.

Here you will find a button or link that will take you to the Power Options and you can configure them to your preference.
