Make sure you have the My Computer or Computer icon  on your desktop (to add it right click in middle of your desktop choose >properties or personalize >desktop >customize desktop or change desktop icons > check boxes. In Windows Vista and 7  you can also add these icons and others by choosing Start> Control Panel> Appearance and Personalization, and then click Personalization. Choose Change Desktop Icons.

If you double-click the Computer icon it displays a list of all the disk drives installed on your computer. To easily copy and move files between drives and directories select Tools or Organize> Folders and configure folders to open in a new window. If you right click on the My Computer icon or in the start Menu and select Properties you can view your machine’s configuration and hardware.
