How To Customize your Desktop: It is time to make your computer yours.

Right click in the middle of the screen and select properties or personalize.

Here you can select a theme and background picture for your computer and screen saver.

You can also adjust the look of icons, sounds to use, colors, etc.

To add/change icons on your desktop choose Customize Desktop or Change desktop icons.

Also, right-click on the middle of the screen and select sort by or arrange icons by and make a choice for your preference.

Looking good so far.

You might wonder what the point of screen savers are.

A screen saver covers your screen if you have not been active for a certain period of time. They were originally used to prevent burned-in monitors, but now they are used for entertainment or to password-protect user’s desktop.

Taskbar– the strip along the bottom of your computer desktop- it contains the Start menu (bottom left) and the System Tray (bottom right).

To lock the taskbar (so it can’t be changed) right click on the task bar and select lock the taskbar.

Click it again to unlock it. To enlarge the taskbar click and drag it up from the top edge (if it doesn’t work unlock the taskbar).

To hide the taskbar (to maximize desktop space) right click the taskbar> choose properties> check auto-hide.

To bring it back move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen.

Great Job! You’re done!
